Volvo CEL codes are rarely what a generic scanner reports. We diagnose on VIDA/DiCE so we see CEM, BCM, and PCM faults together — usually the real cause sits one or two modules deep.
Most Volvo CELs we see trace back to PCV oil-trap failure (vacuum codes on whiteblock 5-cyl), ETM throttle failure on older S60/V70, and timing-belt-driven water pump weeps on T5/T6.
Common Volvo issues we see
- PCV oil-trap diaphragm rupture (P0171)
- ETM throttle module failure on 1999-2008
- Angle gear leak on AWD models
- Drive Mode / four-C suspension faults
